Answer

Officers of banks, co-operative banks, NBFCs, housing finance companies and other financial institutions register, modify and satisfy security interests on CERSAI, and the portal asks them for a Class 3 signing DSC in the officer's own name. Search and report users do not need one. We fill and submit the application for you; you do the Aadhaar OTP and video KYC with the Certifying Authority, which issues the certificate. Application support is included in the price.

Which class of DSC does CERSAI accept?
Class 3 signing, for a new or a renewed certificate. A certificate of another class that you already hold keeps working on the portal until it expires.
Does every CERSAI user need a DSC?
No. Search and report roles do not need one. The roles that register, modify or satisfy a security interest do.
Is the certificate in the name of the officer or the bank?
In the officer's own name. The link between that person and the lender is made on the portal, so the certificate does not have to carry the bank's name.
Can I use the same DSC for NeSL?
Yes. NeSL, the information utility lenders register with, takes a DSC or an Aadhaar e-sign, and the same Class 3 signing certificate works there.
How do I register the certificate on CERSAI?
Log in, select the certificate from the plugged-in token, enter the PIN and accept it. Your entity administrator approves the registration from their side.
Does a CERSAI DSC work for GST or Income Tax too?
Yes. One Class 3 signing certificate covers the tax and business portals as well, and each portal registers it once on its own.
