# Signing PDFs in Adobe with a DSC across India

A Class 3 signing DSC on a USB token signs PDF documents in Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader. The token's driver ties the signature to the certificate, so the signed PDF shows who signed it and that no one changed the file after. The same certificate signs your tax and company returns as well as the documents you open in Adobe. We fill and submit the application for you; you do the Aadhaar OTP and video KYC with the Certifying Authority, which issues the certificate. Application support is included in the price.

## Who needs this

- Businesses that sign contracts, invoices and letters as PDFs
- Contractors signing covering documents for tenders
- Anyone who needs a signature on a PDF that the reader can verify

## Documents required

- PAN card, name as per income tax records
- Aadhaar card, linked to that PAN and to the mobile. Photo and ID are captured live in the CA's video KYC.
- Email ID and mobile number for the DSC record

## Process

1. **Send us your documents.** Send your contact details and documents on WhatsApp, by email or at our Udaipur office, and we fill the application.
2. **Complete payment.** Pay for the DSC and any add-ons
3. **We submit, you do the KYC.** We file the application with the Certifying Authority. You then confirm your mobile and email with OTPs, do the Aadhaar OTP and video KYC with them, and a final eKYC OTP on your phone approves the application. We assist you at every step.
4. **Receive token and sign your PDFs.** Get the USB token by courier (or use your own FIPS 140-3 token). Open a PDF in Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader, choose the certificate from the token and sign. The reader shows who signed and whether the file was changed after.

## Frequently asked questions

**Which certificate do I need to sign a PDF?**

A Class 3 signing DSC on a USB token. The token's driver lets Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader read the certificate and attach the signature to the PDF.

**What does the signature on the PDF show?**

It shows who signed the PDF and that the file has not been changed after the signature. Anyone who opens the PDF in Adobe Reader can see both.

**Can the same DSC sign my tax returns and my PDFs?**

Yes. The same Class 3 signing certificate signs your returns on the portal and the PDFs you sign through Adobe.

**Do I need a new token if I already have one?**

Only if it is FIPS 140-3. Since 21 September 2026 new certificates cannot go on older FIPS 140-2 tokens, so any token bought before then will not work. A new token is an add-on at checkout.

**Does this work in Acrobat Reader as well as Acrobat?**

Signing works in both Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader. The token's driver handles the signing, and the reader verifies the signature.

**What kinds of documents can I sign this way?**

Contracts, invoices, letters, tender covering documents, or any PDF that needs a verifiable signature. The certificate does not limit the document type.
