# DSC for trademark and patent filing (IP India)

Applicants and agents filing on IP India need a Class 3 signing DSC without encryption for trademark and patent applications, replies and renewals. ## Documents required

- PAN card, name as per income tax records
- Aadhaar card, linked to that PAN and to the mobile. Photo and ID are captured live in the CA's video KYC.
- Email ID and mobile number for the DSC record

## Process

1. **Send us your documents.** Send them on WhatsApp, by email or at our Udaipur office, and we fill the application
2. **Complete payment.** Pay for the DSC and any add-ons
3. **We submit, you do the KYC.** We file the application with the Certifying Authority. You then confirm your mobile and email with OTPs, do the Aadhaar OTP and video KYC with them, and a final eKYC OTP on your phone approves the application. We assist you at every step.
4. **Receive token and register.** Get the USB token by courier (or use your own FIPS 140-3 token) and register the DSC on the IP India portal

## Frequently asked questions

**Is DSC mandatory for trademark filing?**

No. IP India accepts a DSC or e-sign. The e-sign comes from the portal's authorised vendor against your Aadhaar or PAN. Agents who sign for clients use a DSC.

**Can I use e-sign instead of DSC for IP India?**

Yes. IP India takes either. One DSC covers applications, replies and renewals, so agents usually file that way.

**What class of DSC is required for trademark registration?**

Class 3 signing, without encryption. Individual or organisation.

**How do I register my DSC on the IP India portal?**

After the certificate is on your token, log in to IP India, open the Control Panel, register the DSC, select the certificate and enter the PIN.

**Can I use the same DSC for trademark and patent filing?**

Yes, the same Class 3 signing DSC works for both. Register it once on the portal.
